Lots of people are asking about the Microsoft Office 2012 release date but unfortunately, no one really knows when that exact date is. Obviously there is much speculation all over the net on various pro Microsoft blogs, but the best guess and most consistent date I can find states that it will be released to manufacturing on July 2, 2012. However, that is pure speculation
But that still does not tell us exactly when the 15th iteration of the world’s most popular office productivity suite will actually be released to the public. What the Release to Manufacturing or RTM date means is that this version of Microsoft Office is being released to the manufacturing and marketing teams and still has to be made available for download, being packaged for sale in the retail market and also have all the marketing materials and advertising be worked out.
Sometimes during the RTM phase of a product life-cycle it can be released to executive and larger clients because of their relationship with the manufacturer. However, there is no indication that this is what Microsoft may be up to. Frankly Microsoft has remained relatively silent as to where they are in the process with Office 2012.
Other websites are saying that this newest version of Office is slated to be one of the biggest releases of new features in some time. Supposedly Outlook shows the most changes with more available white space so your application doesn’t feel so cluttered. The productivity suite has also been revamped to better work with the fact that more and more people are dong their computing thee days on tablets. Exactly what that will look like is anyone’s guess, but it will be good for tablet users. I’m assuming there will be options to switch your interface depending whether or not you are sitting down with your iPad or other tablet or sitting in front of your giant desktop.There is also talk of a new app being released in the package that will be somewhat of a way to create page layouts on your tablet where the pages will be used on tablets only. If this is a standard app included in all versions of Office 2012 that would be fantastic instead of like Publisher being only available in more premium versions of the suite.
